Bonster's Album Recommendations

Achtung Baby

Achtung Baby

This album saw U2 totally re-invent themselves, going from earnest musicians to post-modern ironic 90s rock stars. It was recorded in Berlin in the wake of the partial failure of Rattle and Hum, and the emotional aftermath of The Edge's divorce. Released in 1991.

"One of the best albums ever made. Features everything from haunting lyrics to rocking beats. *love*"

All That You Can't Leave Behind

All That You Can't Leave Behind

U2's tenth studio album, released in 2001. This album abandoned most of the innovations U2 had made since Rattle & Hum in favour of a 'back to basics' approach. People loved it.

"Great album. Got me through finals my sophomore year of college, hee."

Pop

Pop

U2's ninth studio album, which was released in 1997. Not very well-received by critics or some fans.

"My favorite U2 album (though War and Achtung Baby come close). There is so much depth to each song. I think it's essentially a thinking person's album, dressed up in gloss and pop sounds. I think this album is wholly underrated and should be much more loved."

Zooropa

Zooropa

U2's eighth studio album, released in 1993. The band recorded most of it during a brief break between legs of the Zoo TV tour. They originally intended it to be an EP but ended up extending it.

"Eee! Love this album! It's so much fun. Stay (Faraway, So Close) is a gorgeous, gorgeous song. Lemon and Numb have provided me with years of entertainment. The Wanderer is moving and one of the better collaborations between U2 and another musician. All in all, it's a fantastic album."
